Description

Buckwheat is a quick growing, widely adapted, warm season, annual broadleaf used most often for wildlife and cover crops. It is a fast growing plant with a 70-80 day maturity and produces an abundance of triangular shaped seed. Deer and other wildlife will browse the plants, bees and other pollinators are attracted to the flowers and the seed is consumed by birds. It is valued as a cover crop because it establishes easily and grows quickly, shading the ground. The fibrous root system can scavenge phosphorous from the soil and then release it as the plant decomposes quickly. Buckwheat thrives in most well drained soils, and will do surprisingly well in poor, low fertility soils.  Non-GMO
Plant 50-60 lbs per acre at 1-1 1/2 inches deep in the spring after the last frost. Will grow, flower and reseed until the first frost.
