Description
This variety of sweet corn was named for its breeder, Nathan Stowell of New Jersey, and evergreen because of it’s ability to hold its fresh taste in the field. Stowell’s Evergreen will grow 8-10 foot stalks bearing large 8 inch ears containing tender, creamy white kernels. Dating back to the mid-1800s, this variety remain in the milking stage for longer than most so old timers would uproot the stalks and hang them in the barn to harvest ears as they were needed.
80-95 days to maturity. This sweet corn should be planted in the spring after the last frost date and can be grown throughout the warmer months up until fall, as long as time is permitted for harvest before first frost.
