Description

Also known as Annual or Common Sunflower, this persistent, hardy, warm season annual grows upright to 5-6 feet tall and produces numerous yellow flowers.  It is adapted to a wide range of soil conditions, is drought/heat tolerant and reseeds itself readily once established. Native Sunflowers typically have a high percentage of dormant seed, so planting during the cold season allows natural processes to “wake up” the germ to grow in the spring.  However, the seed can be planted in the warm season, as well.  In either case, the time it takes to germinate and become established is highly variable, although planting in winter or even late winter/early spring will help your odds of success for spring germination.

Native Sunflowers are an outstanding food source for all game birds and hard to beat for attraction during dove season.  Plant 8-10 lbs/acre Dec-Jun at 1/4″-1/2″ deep.  Non-GMO
